Fetes and fairs have always been a part of village life from the fetes held at
the Church to today’s fair with its superb aicraft displays.
The Victorian log of the Chelsfield School Headmaster often bemoaned the
fact that the children were absent at fairs or firework displays around the
area.
Today the Chelsfield Fair is a hugely popular event which raises money for
local charities.
The Fair usually has an air display including attractions as varied as a World
War 2 Spitfire, a Hawker Hurricane, and a Piper Cub. The displays are
sponsored by the Chelsfield Flying Club.
Visitors also enjoy
model train rides
and traditional
pursuits such as
Punch and Judy.
